DreamNest Privacy Policy

DreamNest ("DreamNest", "we", "us", or "our") is a bedtime story app that helps users discover, read, and save stories. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect
Account and Profile Information
DreamNest can be used with a local app profile or with Sign in with Apple.
When you use the app, we may collect or store:
- A local user identifier generated by the app.
- Your display name or nickname.
- Your profile avatar, if you choose to upload one.
- Your preferred language.
- Your appearance setting, such as system, light, or dark mode.
- Your bedtime reminder setting, if you choose to set one.
If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with:
- A stable Apple account identifier for this app.
- Your name, if you choose to share it.
- Your email address or private relay email address, if you choose to share it.
We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Story Activity
To provide reading features, we may collect or store:
- Stories you liked or unliked.
- Reading history.
- Total reading time.
- Reading level calculated from reading time.
- Story interaction data, such as likes.
User-Generated Content
If you upload a profile avatar, the image may be stored on our backend storage provider so it can be displayed across sessions and devices.
Device and Technical Information
We may collect basic technical information needed to operate the app, such as:
- App version.
- Device type and operating system version.
- Network request logs and error information.
- Language and region preferences.
We do not intentionally collect precise location data.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide and personalize the app experience.
- Display your profile, avatar, reading level, and reading statistics.
- Save liked stories and reading history.
- Sync app data across sessions.
- Improve app reliability and diagnose errors.
- Support language and appearance preferences.
- Prevent abuse and maintain app security.
3. Backend and Storage Providers
DreamNest currently uses Supabase to store app data, including user profile data, story data, likes, reading history, and uploaded avatar files.
Supabase may process data on our behalf according to its own infrastructure and security practices.
4. AI-Generated and Third-Party Story Services
DreamNest may use automated systems or third-party services to help generate, translate, or prepare story content and story images before they are shown in the app.
These content-generation workflows are used by the developer to prepare app content. We do not intentionally send your personal profile information to story-generation services for personalized story generation unless we clearly explain this and ask for permission in the future.
5. Advertising and Subscriptions
DreamNest may include advertising or subscription features in the future.
If ads are enabled, we may use Google AdMob or similar advertising services. Advertising services may collect device identifiers, ad interaction data, approximate location inferred from IP address, and other information as described in their own privacy policies.
If subscriptions are enabled, purchases will be processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.
Before enabling advertising, tracking, or subscription features in a public release, this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy disclosures should be updated to accurately reflect the released app.
6. Children's Privacy
DreamNest contains story content that may be suitable for families. However, the app is not intended to collect personal information from children without appropriate parental consent.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and delete the information where appropriate.
7. Notifications and Bedtime Reminders
If you enable bedtime reminders, DreamNest may schedule local notifications on your device. These reminders are used only to remind you to read or rest at the time you choose.
You can disable notifications in the app settings or in iOS Settings.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only in the following situations:
- With service providers that help us operate the app, such as backend hosting, storage, translation, content generation, or advertising providers.
- When required by law, legal process, or government request.
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of DreamNest, users, or others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of business assets, if applicable.
9. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before deletion.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can update some information directly in the app, such as your display name, avatar, language, appearance, and reminder settings.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify users in the app.
